Headed back to Maui - Fall 2009

It's true we can't stay away.

This fall friends:
  • Dave and Dee Brown are joining us. Dave is my middle age hero, being a retired airline captain and all. They're one of many couples friends from Trilogy.
  • Neighbor, Ed LaBouy, the all around fun guy, will enhance our stay with his great cooking. Ed is never happier than when he is whipping something delicious up.
  • Cousin Nancy Frykman and husband Ed are gracing us with their presence. I am especially honored that they are joining us, because Ed hates Hawaii. This Ed is a great cook too. He sings and talks to himself while he happily prepares meals. Nancy is the loveliest lady in the family (maybe the world). Way to good for Ed. (Just kidding Ed)
  • Robert and Denise Knueppel are planning on coming. Robert is Jennifer, Adam's new wife's father. They're "flatlanders" from Wisconsin. Never been to Hawaii. Always fun to introduce new people to the islands. Should know this evening. We hope they can come.
will be joining us.

Mount Rainier

One of our day trips was an adventure to Mt Rainier National Park.

We hadn't been for twenty years. One forgets how incredibility beautiful it is. It's a bit of a grueling trip for one day, but well worth the pain

Maui, Spring 2009

We've had a busy time since Adam and Jen got married, including;
  • Seven weeks in Maui which entailed entertaining several sets of friends and relatives:
  • Dave and Molly (Carolyn's cousin and husband)
This was Dave and Molly's second stay with us.

Dave is my hero. Being an retired aerospace guy and all around Mr. Fix It I just set him loose.

Dave and Molly are really easy, nice and fun folks to spend time with.

  • Kathy and Mike (Carolyn's friend from kindergarten and her husband)

It was fun getting to know Kathy and Mike.
Thanks to Kathy and Mike for taking the risk to come stay with us, as you never know what you're in for when you spend a week together.

Hey, worked out fine.

  • Karen and Kenny (My cousin Karen and her husband)

Then there's Karen and Kenny!

I convinced Karen that I was her favorite cousin, so from there on things went swimmingly.

Karen really got into the snorkel adventure (her really first time) Hint use a "noodle" for added buoyancy.

Two more genuinely joyful folks you will not find.

It took a while to tame Kenny. I found treating him like a Marine Corp recruit worked well. By the time they left he had obtained "Guest 1st Class" rank.

Adam and Jennifer get married

Jen and Adam become Mr and Mrs Buckmaster

Clise Mansion from the air

Adam, our son, married Jennifer on April 5, 2009. A very nice affair held at the Clise Mansion in Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA.

The ceremony went smoothly until Benjamin (9), our grandson, who was the ring bearer, got his feet "wrapped-up" and fell on his face in a classic wedding ceremony "fiasco". Everyone laughed including Ben and the event will surely be the "highlight" of the wedding for years to come.

We are delighted with the new addition, Jennifer. She has transferred from "squeeze-in-law" to Daughter-in-law. But, in our hearts she will always be our "squeeze-in-law".

Jennifer's family are great folks. Jennifer had friends and co-workers come from around the country, including: Florida, Illinois, New York, California and Georgia. All of them shared the same sharp wit as Jennifer.

We don't know how they arranged it, but Adam and Jennifer selected the one Sunday in months that was sunny, dry, warm and beautiful. Adam mentioned something about a "deal with the Devil", trading her soul for nice weather. Whatever, it worked. What a great day for a wedding.
